Historic Legacy

Over 200 Years in the Making

St. Katharine Docks has a storied past that dates back to 1828, when it was designed by famed civil engineer Thomas Telford. Originally one of the busiest ports in the UK, St. Katharine Docks was a hub for luxury goods, including sugar, rum, spices, perfumes, and a staggering 32,000 tons of teaannually.

Though much of the original dock was damaged during the Blitz in World War II, a multi-million-pound development in the late 1960s transformed the area into the marina it is today. The transition to a leisure harbor continued into the 1990s, cementing St. Katharine Docks’ place as one of London’s premier maritime destinations.

Practicalities & Reservations

For those planning to berth at St. Katharine Docks, the marina operates via a lock system approximately 2 hours before and 1 ½ hours after high water at London Bridge.

During the summer season (April-October), the lock is operational between 0600-2030 hrs. In the winter season (November – March), it operates from 0800-1800 hrs. Due to the popularity of the marina, advance reservations are strongly recommended, particularly for larger vessels.
